Online Mba Programs: What To Know Before You Apply
Tuition and fees are due the summer before each fall semester. This cost is an estimate, pending state budget approval. Enrollment is expected to increase by 3-10% per academic year. Check the College Cashier’s website for actual tuition and fees for a given academic year.
Additional costs include an orientation fee of $345, which is included in the fall semester tuition and fee bill generated by the University Cashier’s Office, and MBA Student Association dues of $925, which are paid directly to MBASA during the first week of classes. These amounts cannot be included in your financial aid budget.

We place great emphasis on building a diverse class, and as such, one in four students in the full-time STEM-designated MBA program come to UNC from outside the United States.
In most cases, non-US citizen applicants follow the same admissions requirements and process as US citizens and permanent residents. Our admissions team can provide additional guidance on academic transcripts, test scores and language tests for international applicants.
Scholarships can help reduce the cost of your education. All UNC scholarships are merit-based; There is no financial requirement to receive the scholarship. About 50% of our students and international students and US citizens are awarded scholarships. We also offer students who are not US citizens student loan options, which do not require a US co-signer.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) F-1 visas allow students to work in the United States for up to 12 months after graduation. For international students, the STEM designation of our MBA programs at UNC provides an added advantage. International students graduating from our MBA program are eligible for a two-year (24-month) extension to the initial one-year Optional Practical Training (OPT) period to work in the United States before applying for a visa.

The International Business Association, Asian Business Club, and Latin American Business Association are student-run clubs that help international students settle into new lives in the United States, Chapel Hill, and the UNC community. These clubs hold many events throughout the year, including career workshops, networking opportunities and numerous social events.
If you are not a US citizen, you must obtain a student visa. This process can be started as soon as you are admitted to the full-time MBA program.
What Post Mba Life Is Like, During Covid And Beyond
The Office of International Student and Scholar Services can help you through the student visa application process. This office issues the I-20 and DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 and J-1 Nonimmigrant Student Status) to all eligible non-US citizen students. Please note that federal regulations require you to complete the MBA Financial Certificate to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover expenses for the duration of your studies.
