The Idaho Opportunity Scholarship is a “last dollar” award, meaning it is intended to help fill the gap in your cost of attendance after scholarships and other financial aid. If you have scholarships and other financial aid that almost cover your cost of attendance, your Idaho Opportunity Scholarship will be reduced so that you do not exceed your cost of attendance. Keep in mind that Northern Nazarene University and The College of Idaho are required to disclose the average cost of attendance at the time of award, which is $22,434 for the 2021-22 academic year.

University Of Idaho Scholarships 2024
You will receive a scholarship award or “offer” in March or April and must receive it by the deadline. After doing this, you may not hear from the State Board of Education office all summer.
Beginning in June, a list of students who have received and received Idaho State scholarships will be sent to colleges and universities. The institution verifies GPA, residency, FAFSA data and other important information. Then the list is sent to the State Education Council office with the amount given for each student. The funds will then be transferred to the institution from the end of July.
Colleges and universities will begin adding the award to your financial aid letter. Some students may not receive additional rewards until late August, or early September. Funds will be deposited into your student account with any other financial aid you have received.
These institutions are required to use the average cost of attendance at public four-year institutions in Idaho when calculating award amounts, which can be significantly lower than their actual cost of attendance. Many students at these institutions have institutional aid and scholarships equal to or more than the cost of attendance they must use, meaning they must reduce the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship to $0. You still need to renew your award, as your situation may be different next year. The Idaho Startup Grant Program aims to prepare Idaho students for Idaho’s workforce needs.
